hi everyone and welcome to my video on neuro-linguistic programming NLP for parents NLP is a powerful tool that can be used to help children learn more effectively and efficiently in this video I'll be sharing some of the basics of NLP and how you can use it to help your child change their behavior first let's discuss what is NLP NLP is a model of communication and learning that was developed in the 1970s by Richard bandler and John grinder NLP is based on the idea that our thoughts feelings and behaviors are all connected and that by changing one of these things we can change the others NLP practitioners use a variety of techniques to help people achieve their goals including 1.
reframing this is a technique for changing the way we see a situation or problem by reframing we can change our perspective and find new Solutions 2. anchoring this is a technique for associating a positive feeling with a specific object or action anchoring can be used to help people stay motivated and focused three meta modeling this is a technique for identifying and challenging limiting beliefs by challenging our beliefs we can open ourselves up to new possibilities you might then be asking how can NLP be used to change child's Behavior NLP can be used to change child's behavior in a variety of ways for example NLP can be used to one help children with self-control NLP techniques can help children to learn how to control their emotions and behaviors 2.
Help children with social skills NLP techniques can help children to learn how to interact with others in a positive and productive way three help children with learning difficulties NLP techniques can be used to help children with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and ADHD so how can we use NLP with children 1. reframing when your child is misbehaving help them to reframe the situation in a more positive light for example if your child is hitting their sibling you could say something like I see that you're feeling angry let's find a way to express your anger in a more positive way 2. anchoring when your child is behaving in a way that you want to encourage help them to Anchor that feeling so that they can access it when they need it for example you could have your child touch their thumb and forefinger together whenever they are behaving in a positive way then when they are feeling discouraged they can touch their thumb and forefinger to remind themselves of how they felt when they were behaving in a positive way three meta modeling when your child is making negative statements about themselves help them to identify and challenge their limiting beliefs for example if your child says I'm not good at math you could ask them what evidence do you have that you're not good at math by challenging their beliefs you can help them to see themselves in a more positive light here are some additional tips for using NLP with children 1.
